- Must have graduated from an accredited high school, or have obtained a State of Florida G.E.D. certificate or equivalent.
- Must submit to a post-offer physical examination. The offer of employment will be conditioned on the results of testing and/or examinations.

Position Summary: An internship to introduce students/recent graduates to the operational functions of local government. The intern will work alongside the Administration, Development & Neighborhood Services, Finance, Information Technology, Purchasing, Public Works, Fire Rescue and Community & Recreation Services departments and its strategies to engage in interactive, and engaging information for the employees, residents, visitors, and businesses within the City of Greenacres community and beyond. During the 8-week summer program, the intern will work with each department for a minimum of one week at a time. The internship program is intended to supplement a student’s ongoing education program. Over the course of the internship, interns have the opportunity to work on a significant project related to their educational course work, network with professionals in local government, and to observe first-hand the efforts of the City to resolve complex issues of policy and governance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Undertakes and/or participates in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the City.
- Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from City personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
- Assist in all administrative functions for each department.
- As appropriate to the position and as specified by each department, conducts original research and prepares reports based on findings, to include recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
- Will learn local and County governance and participate in organized practical projects.
- Performs customer service functions; answers telephone calls, directs callers/visitors to appropriate personnel, and records/relays messages.
- Assist in updating department processes and procedures. Assist in creating reports for daily processes in each department.
- Ensure that all required documentation required by the college or university is supplied to the Department Internship Coordinator and completed prior to required deadlines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Knowledge of:
- An interest in the public service.
- Social media tools including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Constant Contact, electronic publications, and web related programs.
- Knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suites, and Photoshop.
- Excellent written, grammar and verbal communication skills.
Ability to:
- Ability to plan, schedule, and produce work independently with minimal supervision, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize work and be self-motivated.

- Understand the importance of various communication outlets from Greenacres to its residents and beyond.
- Recently graduated or currently enrolled in an accredited College or University program working towards an Associate’s or a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Graphic Design, Communication Studies, Art, Media, Political Science, Public Relations, Business Management, Public Administration, or related field.
Salary : $17
