Work Schedule: Hours will vary based on programming needs. Monday through Friday 8 am-12 pm; weekends and evenings possible based on program schedule; 15-20 hours per week.
- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12-month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

Brief Description of Work:
This position provides direct program leadership and support to youth and adults with disabilities in traditional recreation programs operated by the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department. The recreation assistant will:
- Ensure participant’s safety
- Assist in program planning and implement the program
- Communicate with parents, supervisor, and staff regarding participants’ needs
- Make adaptations or modifications to programs/activities
- Support and encourage the participant to engage in all activities
- Close supervision and attentive to the participant’s needs
- Provide some personal care
- Monitor and modify behaviors
- Bus Monitor
Work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level employee and is reviewed through conferences and observation of performance or completed assignments.
The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- 1 years’ experience working with persons with disabilities
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Behavior Intervention Training
- Athletic Coaching experience
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
