Do you have a passion for advocacy and helping others navigate the aftermath of crime? The Greensboro Police Department is seeking a Department Programs Technician (Victim’s Advocate) to provide critical support to victims and families of violent crimes. This role ensures that victims receive the care, resources, and justice they deserve while serving as a crucial link between law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and community services.
Salary Information:
- Full Salary Range: $39,319.00 - $70,361.00 Annually
- Expected Hiring Range: $39,319.00 - $47,833.00 Annually (Based on qualifications and experience)
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

About the Role:
As a Victim’s Advocate, you will:
- Coordinate with victims and families of violent crimes to provide compassionate support and resources.
- Ensure victims understand their rights and connect them with necessary services.
- Act as a liaison between victims and detectives, facilitating case follow-ups and ongoing progress updates.
- Provide empathetic, trauma-informed advocacy to crime victims.
- Coordinate case information between multiple criminal justice partners.
- Obtain DCI certification from the State of North Carolina within the probationary period.
Qualifications
What You Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma with 1-3 years of experience in victim’s assistance, OR
- No High School Diploma with 5-7 years of experience in victim’s assistance (Victim assistance experience includes crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, safety planning, and connecting victims to legal and social services.)
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a related human services field
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite
