Hourly Rate: $16.55 | Location: Greensboro, NC 27401 | Job Type: Active Roster Temporary | Job Number: 04841 | Department: Parks and Recreation | Opening Date: 04/08/2025 | Closing Date: 04/22/2025 at 11:59 PM (Eastern)
- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

About the Role:
As a Laborer with Greensboro Parks and Recreation, you'll help maintain and care for our beautiful public spaces. From mowing and landscaping to tree work and equipment operation, your efforts will help keep parks and open spaces clean, safe, and enjoyable for all.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, landscaping, and weed-eating; use a variety of tools and equipment (e.g., push mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws, tractors); assist with tree work and general upkeep of parks and rights-of-way; follow verbal and written instructions to complete tasks safely and efficiently; work around traffic and heavy equipment; report early in the mornings and be prepared for work in various weather conditions; maintain reliable communication (home or cell phone contact required).
Physical Requirements:
This role requires standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in all types of weather.
This job is Non-Exempt under FLSA.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED “OR” equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Driver's License
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Landscape Experience
- Mowing Experience
