- Full Salary Range: $42,072.00 - $75,287.00 Annually
- Expected Hiring Range: $51,182 - $67,351 Annually

About the RoleThe Peer Support Specialist (PSS) plays a vital role in supporting individuals referred through the Community Safety Department. This position assists the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) Coordinator by providing intensive case management to connect individuals with appropriate community resources. The PSS may also support the Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT) to build rapport with individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges. Additionally, this role collaborates with BHRT and Cone Health to provide consistent engagement and follow-up for individuals who have experienced an accidental overdose.
Key Responsibilities:- Build trust and rapport with referred individuals
- Conduct peer support, education, and outreach services
- Facilitate access to emergency shelter and housing options
- Provide information and referrals for basic needs, medical care, mental health, and substance use treatment
- Assist with connecting individuals to County or State benefits (e.g., disability, food stamps, Medicaid)
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary
- Collaborate with local agencies, community partners, and Greensboro Police Department officers
- Participate in regular meetings and trainings to stay informed and enhance service delivery
- Coordinate referrals and care plans with community agencies and resources
- Attend community and provider meetings as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records and documentation in compliance with policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED with 1-3 years of experience in mental health or substance abuse
- Experience with case management
- Certified Peer Support Specialist
- Valid Driver’s License
