Compensation and Benefits:
Estimated Hiring Salary Range: $41,781 - $45,190 Full Salary Range: $41,781 - $61,458 Annually, depending on qualifications.

Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday | 8-hour days (Some with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.)
- Service Critical Position: Required to report for duty during weather-related events.

About the Role:
As a Solid Waste Operator, you will:
- Collect and dispose of waste, recyclables, and yard debris from Parks and Recreation facilities.
- Operate and maintain solid waste collection vehicles and equipment.
- Inspect and maintain playgrounds, refill doggy bag dispensers, and keep park spaces clean.
- Maintain accurate records of collections and inspections using the EAM Work Order System.
- Work with supervisors to adjust routes and respond to hazardous conditions.
- Supervise seasonal employees and assist in special events, including mobile stage setup.
- Be available for emergency response during storms, snow, and ice events.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs., with frequent bending, climbing, and kneeling.

Qualifications
What You Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of solid waste collection experience (refuse, recycling, etc.).
- Experience using basic landscaping tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, string trimmers, blowers, etc.).
- A valid driver’s license
- Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel) for record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) “OR” ability to obtain within 120 days of employment.
- NC Public Operators Pesticide License “OR” ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
- Experience with solid waste collection routes; location of city streets and addresses.
- Experience operating rear-loading collection vehicles and knowledge of vehicle weight limits.
- Experience/familiarity with EAM Work Order Systems or similar fleet management software.
