- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

Brief Description of Work:
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Solid Waste Operator/Laborer within our Park Maintenance and Operations section. As a Solid Waste Operator/Laborer, you will be responsible for daily trash and bathroom clean up, string trimming around playground units as needed of all the City of Greensboro parks and facilities. You will also have to operate weed eaters, backpack blowers, and use various hand tools to include; trash pickup stick, shovels, pitchforks and rakes. The Solid Waste Operator/Laborer position might be for you if: You desire seasonal work in various weather conditions and have prior experience working in a related field. The physical requirements of this job include but are not limited to: stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, walking, sitting for long periods of time, hand and eye coordination, climbing, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED
- OR" and equivalency of 2 years education "and" 5 years of "related" work experience
- Prior janitorial experience
- Prior experience with basic landscape tools, (e.g. shovels, rakes, string trimmers, backpack blowers, etc.) or related landscaping field
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience working in Parks & Recreation
- Experience working in Sanitation
