The Greensboro Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking a skilled and motivated Traffic Signal Technician to join our Traffic Operations Division. About the Role:
As a Traffic Signal Technician, you will:
- Participate in the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signals and control devices.
- Install and maintain traffic signal hardware, electronic control equipment, communication systems, message signs, CCTV cameras, and related components.
- Conduct field and bench tests, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot issues.
- Respond to emergencies, including knock-downs or damaged signals.
- Operate electrical test equipment, motorized construction tools, aerial lift trucks, and power tools.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and around traffic, often exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, and live electricity.
Physical duties include stooping, bending, overhead reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs., and climbing ladders up to 10 feet. The employee must obtain a North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake Endorsement within six months of employment.

What You Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED with 1-3 years of experience in traffic signal, electrical, electronics, or utility construction (e.g., electrician, technician, equipment operator).
- “OR” No High School Diploma/GED with 3-5 years of experience in traffic signal, electrical, electronics, or utility construction (e.g., electrician, technician, equipment operator).
- Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work Zone Safety Certification (IMSA).
- Traffic Signal Technician Level 2 Certification (IMSA).
- Class A or B Commercial Driver's License.
