About the Role:
As a Civil Engineer within the Engineering Division of Water Resources, you’ll support the Plan Review section and help guide development that aligns with City standards, policies, and environmental goals. Up to 60% of your time will be dedicated to reviewing developer and consultant submissions for compliance with City ordinances.

What You’ll Do::
Review development plans, studies, specifications, and cost estimates to ensure alignment with City policy and ordinances.
Provide engineering expertise for water, sewer, and stormwater system designs.
Collaborate with the Engineering Supervisor to administer the Post-Construction Runoff Control Program and recommend ordinance updates based on current and upcoming State and EPA regulations.
Respond to technical inquiries from developers, engineers, and community members, providing thoughtful and clear solutions.
Support City-led and economic development projects with expert engineering review and technical guidance.
Serve as a vital part of the Development Services team, delivering excellent customer service while upholding the integrity of public infrastructure.
Assist in project prioritization and planning with leadership and cross-functional teams.

.This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's License
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University
- Or an equivalency of an Associates Degree in Engineering or related field "and" 6 years of engineering principles and practices including design standards, or directly related experience
- 1 years experience/knowledge of engineering principles and practices including design standards for water, sewer, and/or stormwater-related field
- Engineering Intern Certification by NC Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors ("OR" the ability to obtain within 24 months of hire date)
- Bachelor of Engineering; Bachelor of Science or related field
- Experience interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
- Experience with ESRI GIS
Salary : $65,532 - $117,267
