Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; 20 – 25 hours per week and occasional weekends.
Brief Description of Work:
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Park Crew Member who is passionate about building better lives and a better community. The employee in this position will perform various maintenance duties on an extensive trail and greenway system in Greensboro. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: landscape maintenance, mowing, tree removal, trail maintenance, trash removal, sign installation, carpentry, concrete and park/playground maintenance, and moving various items for different departments. The selected employee will be operating various types of equipment such as utility vehicles, mowers, chainsaws, weed-eaters, edgers, and other handheld power tools. The employee in this position will also be responsible for assisting other trail and park crews with the installation and repair of boardwalks, footbridges, and fencing, painting, and moving crew.
The physical requirements of the job include stooping, kneeling, climbing, bending, standing and walking for long periods of time. The employee must be able to walk long distances carrying and performing strenuous work including lifting up to 50lbs and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
The employee must also be able to work independently, have excellent customer service skills, and follow verbal and written instructions. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required. The employee must have reliable means of contact (phone/cell) and transportation.
This job is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Prior ground maintenance and construction experience
- Experience operating various equipment such as chainsaws, mowers and power tools
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience operating a chainsaw
- Carpentry construction experience
- Moving various items such as office furniture experience
- Special event set-up experience
