About the Role:
As a Water Meter Technician, you’ll play a vital role in reading and maintaining over 100,000 water meters using a mobile reading and collection system. Your work helps ensure accurate billing and efficient water usage across the city:
Reading water meters to support accurate billing and tracking.
Investigating abnormal water consumption patterns (both high and low).
Connecting and disconnecting water service for residents moving in or out.
Handling disconnections and reconnections due to non-payment, NSF checks, or unauthorized usage.
Identifying and reporting leaks, illegal consumption, cross-connections, and unapproved devices.
Ensuring all meter reading schedules are met on time and accurately.
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- "OR" an equivalency of 3 years of education with 6 years of work experience reading meters
- Valid Driver's License
- 4 years of related experience (i.e., reading water meters using a mobile reading and collections system, new cut-on and cut-offs for customers, etc.)
- Technical and customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Mobile reading and AMI technical systems
- Experience with Utility billing applications (enQuesta), or related billing software systems
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel)
Salary : $42,985 - $58,828
