What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Inclusion Counselors position at City of Greenville, NC?
The Greenville Recreation and Parks Department is currently recruiting Summer Inclusion Counselors to work one-on-one with children with developmental and/or physical disabilities and provide support as they participate in summer camp programs.
Minimum Age: 21 years old (as of May 13, 2025)
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Camps run from June 16 to August 1, 2025, Monday - Friday. Counselors will work at one or more of the following camps. Hours vary by camp.

- There is no camp on June 19 and July 4.
- Camp Escape (Drew Steele Center)
- Jamboree at South Greenville (South Greenville Gym)
- Eppes Day Camp
- Playground Camp and Greenfield Terrace
- Rec Plus (Boyd Lee Park)
All staff are expected to attend mandatory training on the dates listed below:
- May 13, 2025
- May 15, 2025
- May 20, 2025
- May 22, 2025
- May 29, 2025
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of previous experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities, Special Education, adapted Physical Education, or Recreation. Recreation Therapy is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of:
- promoting good conduct and acting as a role model for campers.
- presenting a mature professional demeanor.
- modifying activities and environments so campers with special needs can participate fully.
- providing personal care which may require lifting up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
- maintain effective and courteous working relationships with campers, parents, employees, community organization partners, and the general public.
- understand and abide by Greenville Recreation and Parks Department policies and procedures.
- understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- monitor children in a pool setting for an extended period of time.
Special Requirements
- Valid CPR, First Aid/AED certifications are required prior to the start of camp.
- North Carolina Intervention (NCI) Certification and Medication Administration Certification are preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver's license issued by N.C. or another state.
