Brief Description
Job Summary
Under regular direction and in compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, inspects parking facilities by conducting daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual equipment checks. Repairs damaged and non-working equipment. Troubleshoots electrical problems as appropriate. Conducts technical maintenance and inspections for parking garages, including but not limited to lighting, parking equipment, elevators, electrical, and fire systems. Maintains record of repairs. Interacts with other divisions and outside vendors to complete projects. Provides professional customer service to parking patrons, providing directions, and directing complaints. Subject to on-call availability (scheduled rotation) and overtime.

Repair Damaged & Out of Service Equipment: Conduct and assist in the maintenance and repair of parking facilities and equipment, including, but not limited to electrical components, light bulbs, ballasts, sockets, repair motors, gear boxes, loop detectors, control boxes, gate arms, ticket spitters, and electric vehicle charging stations. Utilize bucket truck to complete projects. Work with other divisions within Public Works and outside vendors to complete repairs.

Inspect Parking Facilities/Conduct Daily Equipment Checks: Check and perform inspections for lighting, fire extinguishers, elevators, gates, and ticket spitters. Install or replace signs and clearance bars. Complete daily custodial tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash bins in garage, bathrooms, and office areas.

Provide Customer Service to Public: Interact with the public to answer questions and direct complaints as necessary. Assist customers inside the garage and at the entry/exit points. Report incidents or issues to supervisor or local authority as necessary.

Maintain Record of Repairs: Document and/or report problems or repairs. Work with Building Services and various vendors to ensure inspections are completed on time. Maintain inspection and safety logs for all facilities. Immediately inform supervisor of any accidents, incidents, or safety concerns.

Qualifications
Job Requirements
- High school diploma plus two (2) years of maintenance experience or training in mechanical repairs, electric repairs or general maintenance.
- Over two (2) years of experience as a maintenance technician responsible for repairs of a mechanical, electrical or electronic nature and direct or indirect supervision of a maintenance team.
- FEMA training and certifications ICS 100, IS 552 and ICS 700 within three (3) months of hire.
Driver's License Requirements
- Valid South Carolina Class D Driver's License.

Knowledge of:
- Methods and techniques used in the operation, repair and maintenance of parking facilities and equipment to include basic electrical and mechanical systems.
- Operational characteristics, safe, and proper use of a variety of tools and equipment utilized in parking facilities maintenance.
- Occupational hazards and general industry safety practices.
- Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to:
- Resolve parking facility maintenance issues with limited assistance or supervision.
- Effectively plan, prioritize, and estimate work in the most efficient manner to minimize facility downtime.
- Identify and report safety issues or concerns that are observed during the course of essential job functions.
- Read instructions, labels, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), manuals, policies, and other reference materials.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Communicate basic information to the public in a respectful and knowledgeable manner.
- Perform measurements utilizing various instruments and perform maintenance based mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Drive City vehicles between facilities and job sites.
- Safely and effectively use, operate, and maintain various maintenance equipment and tools to include pressure washer, trailer, saws, wrench, hammer, drill, grinder, vehicle, tools, and bucket lift truck.
- Work in inclement weather conditions including cold rain, wind, heat, snow, sleet, etc.
- Write reports, prepare business letters, summarize meeting minutes, and compose emails in a clear and professional manner.
- Operate general office equipment to include scanner, printer, copier, telephone, and computer with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Utilize specialized software and systems to include Cityworks.

Working Conditions
Primary Work Location: Shop, Vehicle, and Outdoors.
Protective Equipment Required: Mask, knee pads, eye protection, harness, and gloves.

Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Daily exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards. Constant exposure to mechanical hazards. Frequent exposure to electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to physical danger or abuse. Rare exposure to chemical hazards, fire hazards, and communicable diseases.
Physical Demands:
Constantly requires standing, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, and talking. Frequently requires fine dexterity and kneeling. Heavy strength demands include exerting 50- 100 pounds occasionally, 20-50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
Mental Demands:
Frequently requires frequent change of tasks. Occasionally requires time pressures, emergency situations, working closely with others as part of a team, and noisy/distracting environment. Rarely requires irregular schedule/overtime, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and tedious or exacting work.
