What are the responsibilities and job description for the Greenville Police Department Internship (Summer 2025) position at City of Greenville?
The Greenville Police Department recognizes the need to meet student interest in the law enforcement profession and has reopened its student intern program. This unpaid internship position is designed for college students whose field of study requires an internship to be completed before graduation. The Deputy Chief or his designee will attempt to place college students who are recommended for an internship by their college or university in a division or unit within the department that is relative to their field of study.
Interns must undergo an interview and background check before acceptance. They will be assigned to various divisions within the Greenville Police Department to better learn how the department operates as a whole. Interns will be given a schedule at the start of the semester, but are expected to maintain the hours necessary to complete their degree.

- Clerical/administrative duties;
- Preparing paperwork;
- Accompanying officers during routine patrol;
- Shadowing officers/detectives at crime scenes;
- Assisting officers with daily tasks;
- Departmental Research in ongoing initiatives and projects;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled at a university or college as a sophomore, junior, or senior; and
- Internship must be a requirement for graduation.
- Must be currently enrolled at a university or college.
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be of good moral character with no disqualifying criminal conviction(s).
- Must meet any other minimum employment requirements established by the City of Greenville.
