The City of Greenville's Public Works Department is currently seeking Laborers for its Building & Grounds Division. This position performs a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor tasks. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Drives light duty truck as needed;
- Serves as a crew member engaged in city wide landscape maintenance;
- Operates a variety of small power tools; weed eater, bed edger, backpack blower, push and zero turn mowers and chainsaws;
- Performs liter patrol;
- Assists other employees with tools, equipment, and daily job task;
- Performs limited skilled maintenance and repairs on various buildings, structures, and facilities;
- Performs limited cleaning and janitorial duties;
- Assists with loading and unloading supplies and materials related to maintenance and landscaping;
- Performs limited skilled maintenance as directed;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and write sufficiently to complete required tasks (high school diploma or GED preferred); and
- Six months of manual labor experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment utilized in area of assigned work.
