The City's Recreation and Parks Department is looking for a Parks Crew Leader! The purpose of this position is to assist the Parks Facilities Supervisor for the weekend and special events crew by hands-on leadership support of the Parks Division. This is accomplished by assigning crew members work assignments, supervising, inspecting, performing the maintenance of park landscapes, and supporting special events and activities at various parks and facilities as well as safely operating landscape equipment.
This position's primary work schedule is Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
*Note: must be able to work holidays, nights, and weekends to support park programs/special events as needed. This position also requires working in all kinds of weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, etc.)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Performs, plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises landscape management operations of parks and oversees work of contractors in conjunction with the Parks Facilities Supervisor for weekend and special events;
- Directs, instructs, and evaluates crew members’ work;
- Ensures compliance with applicable safety, maintenance, and programming practices and standards;
- Coordinates responses to emergency calls and determines appropriate maintenance and repairs;
- Completes reports and inspections;
- Works with special events staff and leaders to coordinate and support events;
- Provides operational support for on-site events, including but not limited to set-up, breakdown, event management, inventory management, parking facilitation, and other duties assigned; Event set-up can include tables, chairs, tents, ladders, canopies, lights, sound equipment, audio/visual equipment;
- Serves in various roles and different capacities, planning and supporting multiple events;
- Works to complete mowing and tree maintenance for parks and landscape;
- Performs and supervises the conversion and protection of plant beds and grounds during special events, restoring parks damaged by weather, use, or other conditions;
- Processes work orders;
- Prepares receipts for procurement card reconciliation;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED; and
- 1 to 3 years of experience in the maintenance of parks facilities and grounds or a related field.
- Supervisory experience (preferred, not required)
- Landscape management experience (preferred, not required)
- Special event experience (preferred, not required)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:

- This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry 50 pounds frequently and up 100 pounds occasionally.
