The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for an Accountant in our Finance Department.
Responsibilities: Assists in the preparation of annual budgets including the general fund, all special funds for various departments and divisions, and the SOVA budget; Assists in the monitoring of budget expenditures of the city to ensure expenditures are within the constraints of budget appropriations; Assists with year-end close, the annual audit, and preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and related reports and schedules; preparation of fixed assets reports; Assists in collection, researching, and analyzing data for the preparation of various reports including federal, state, and local reporting; Assists in collection, researching, and analyzing data for the preparation of presentations, annual reports, monthly financial statements, agenda items, and others; Assists in coding accounts payable; reviews pay requests for accounts payable and cash disbursements; assists in coding receipts; prepares accounts receivable invoices and monitors aging of accounts receivable; Files insurance claims and assists with preparation of reports for policy renewal; prepares additions and deletions of insurance assets; coordinates the supply of Certificates of Insurance; Reconciles all general ledger accounts to its appropriate supporting documentation, including all cash accounts to bank statements; initiates bank transfers; prepares journal entries; Records the City’s self-insured Health Benefits activity; assists in monitoring adequate funding; Performs a variety of secretarial and accounting duties for the Chief Financial Officer including but not limited to typing correspondence, letters, and forms; Assists in the Business Office as needed.
Job Requirements: Four-year degree in accounting, finance, or other related field with at least one to three years of progressively responsible experience in public finance administration or the equivalent combination of acceptable education, training and experience. Must have a valid state issued driver’s license.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm; additional hours as needed
Salary: Minimum salary $51,710 a year, dependent on experience.
