Overview
The City Administrator will act as the chief executive for a small-town community, partnering with the City Council and city employees.
Leadership will shape the city's daily operations, aligning them with the City Council’s vision and the community’s growth, sustainability, and quality of life goals.
As City Administrator, you will manage the city’s annual budget and oversee essential municipal services such as administration, public works, parks and rec, fire and police departments, and the municipal court. Your role will require a strategic balance between fiscal responsibility and forward-thinking initiatives to ensure the efficient delivery of services and the city’s continued progress.
The City of Gregory is looking for an experienced leader with local government experience who thrives in a small-town environment. Expertise in municipal budgeting, grant writing, infrastructure management, and organizational leadership is essential to meet the city’s evolving needs. With a solid understanding of governance in a Type A General Law Municipality, you will work with the City Council to develop policies, set strategic objectives, and maintain transparency and accountability across operations.

Responsibilities
- Oversee daily administrative operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead and supervise all departments, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Develop and implement strategic plans that enhance city development efforts.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet objectives.
- Conduct profit and loss analysis to inform decision-making processes.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.
- Collaborate with personel to support retention and growth initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to administrative functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Experience overseeing public works, water, and wastewater systems.
- Proven success in economic development and attracting new businesses.
- High emotional intelligence, integrity, and approachability.
- Familiarity with the dynamics of smaller communities.
- A commitment to relocate within 25 miles of city limits within 3 months of appointment.
- Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in local government, including service as a City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or Department Head.
- Strong expertise in municipal budgeting, project management, and infrastructure planning.
- Knowledge of Texas municipal laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and build consensus.
- Relevant experience may be considered in place of the educational requirement for candidates with significant accomplishments in municipal government or related fields.'
