The City of Gresham is seeking interested community members to serve as volunteers on the Urban Forestry Subcommittee as well as the Planning Commission.

The Urban Forestry Subcommittee is charged with advising the Planning Commission on issues related to the health, protection, extent, and management of the City’s urban forest. These responsibilities include reviewing management documents specific to the urban forest, advising staff on tree related codes and discussing potential changes to the tree regulations. This subcommittee may be tasked with addressing the public which includes representing the City at events and speaking to groups.
The Urban Forestry Subcommittee also has the responsibility for overseeing and making recommendations related to the City’s Significant Tree designations. The members occasionally are involved in volunteer work in the field that include tree plantings, Significant Tree survey related work, and other tree-focused community events.
The Urban Forestry Subcommittee meets regularly once a month and is looking for volunteers preferably with expertise associated with trees such as professional arborists, nursery operators, foresters, and landscape architects. In addition, candidates without expertise but that are passionate about trees and the urban forest are encouraged to apply today!
