What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meter Division Construction and Maintenance Supervisor position at CITY OF GRIFFIN?
This position is responsible for supervising the installation, repairs, & reads of the city?s water meters. They will also be responsible for the city?s leak detection and cross contamination programs. Essential duties include:
- Oversees leak detection activities in the City.
- Provides support to Leak Detection Technicians and Equipment Operators in the Meter Division.
- Enters data into Asset Management system pertaining to leak detection and backflow work.
- Performs and assists with all Water Distribution system maintenance duties aligned with the competencies of a licensed Water Distribution System Operator in Georgia. Must have a Water Distribution Operator license or able to obtain within 12 months of employment.
- Performs field and bench tests for meter accuracy.
- Uses meter management system to identify connections with high water use.
- Communicates with customers to notify of possible leaks and of requirements associated with the City?s Cross-connection Control Plan.
- Supervises water meter personnel in the performance of preventative and emergency maintenance duties.
- Supervises and participates in the installation of water meters and boxes.
- Supervises and participates in the AMI / AMR reads & rereads.
- Supervises and participates in the leak detection program.
- Supervises and participates in the backflow (cross contamination) program.
- Supervises and participates in water meter cut on/off.
- Ensures compliance with safety procedures.
- Inspects vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and functionality; coordinates the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Completes required reports.
- Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
- Processes work orders.
- Performs related duties.
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
