Join our dynamic Parks and Recreation team as a Sports Site Coordinator focusing on Adaptive Programs. This rewarding role assists with inclusive recreational activities that promote social-emotional learning, fun, and physical engagement for individuals of all abilities.
Appointed by the Mayor in consultation with the Administrative Assistant, the Sports Site Supervisor, under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Supervisor is responsible the organization, supervision and evaluation the specific recreation program for which they are responsible and/or assigned. Sufficient knowledge of the professional field to carry out a full range of varied responsibilities and discharge the accountability required of the Sports Site Coordinator.
- Be willing to supervise in school buildings during practice hours (youth volleyball/basketball/adult volleyball).
- Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
- Performs other related duties as assigned-
The Sports Site Supervisor shall be chosen solely on the basis of his/her executive and administrative qualifications in the profession of parks and recreation, as shown by the adequacy of his/her technical training and his/her successful experience in parks and recreation.
- Has proven ability in oral and written communications.
- Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general.
- Completion of secondary education or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Position is PART-TIME with a maximum of 28 hours per week. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
The Sports Site Coordinator has the following powers and duties under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Supervisor:
- Observes coaches and players during practice and games.
- Assists in the oversight, development and delivery of youth and adult sports programs and leagues offered through the Parks and Recreation Department.
- Supervises volunteers assigned in specialty area (e.g., schedules and assigns tasks, evaluates performance, recruits and evaluates volunteer coaches, directs instructors and officials as determined by the Recreation Supervisor.
- Maintains contact with City personnel/departments, volunteers, the general public, and various government agencies/officials in order to obtain or disseminate information related to the essential position functions.
- Be willing to supervise in school buildings during practice hours (youth volleyball/basketball/adult volleyball).
- Maintains required licensures and certification, if any.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
- Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
- Follows all rules, regulations and ethics conduct as set forth by the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Grove City.
- Performs other related duties as assigned-
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); ascends and/or descends, stairs; works in or around crowds; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to fire, hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; frequently lifts, carries, pushes and pulls objects approximately 30 lbs.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.
