JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE : DOCKMASTER

DEPARTMENT : PARKS & RECREATION

STATUS : SEASONAL

PAY GRADE : 4 ($16.00 HOURLY)

This is a seasonal position to provide assistance, ensure public safety and collect fees at the local boat ramps, docks, piers and walkways. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. The number of hours per week will vary. Position reports directly to Park Ranger or their designee.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greets and assists visitors in a courteous, friendly manner.
• Ensures vehicles & trailers come and go in proper fashion.
• Ensures all visitors are provided knowledge of rules and regulations.
• Ensures appropriate fees are collected.
• Ensures all vehicles are issued proper permits.
• Handles emergencies proficiently (directs emergency vehicles and keeps traffic lanes open for such vehicles).
• Communicates with supervisor and/or maintenance staff for parking, maintenance or safety issues.
• Inspects launch ramps and surrounding area to ensure their cleanliness and safety.
• Be a friendly and helpful resource for visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to work weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
• Genuine concern for guests’ experience and willingness to talk to people.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Familiar with boating rules & regulations and recreational opportunities available to visitors.
• Able to understand and operate iPhone and android apps.
• Able to work unsupervised.
• Able to work in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Requires sitting, walking or standing.
• Involves lifting up to 10 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 20 pounds.
• Requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, simple grasping, pushing and pulling.
• The job requires normal field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, depth perception, and be able to work in adverse weather.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to navigate apps, experience with smartphones.
