The Position
The Gunnison/Hinsdale Combined Emergency Telephone Service Authority is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time Emergency Communications Specialist position. There are currently two open positions.
This position performs public contact and communications duties necessary for the dispatching of all law enforcements agencies, emergency medical services, and fire departments for emergency and non-emergency situations.
The Compensation and Benefits
The starting salary range for this position is $56,900 to $66,800 per year plus benefits, based on qualifications.
The Gunnison/Hinsdale Combined Emergency Telephone Service Authority offers a competitive benefit program, which initially includes three weeks of paid vacation, twelve days of paid sick leave and twelve paid holidays. 5% of the employee’s gross pay is matched by the City in a defined contribution retirement program. The City pays 75% of health insurance premiums for the employee and dependents, offers free access to doctors at any time via its Teledoc program, provides an Employee Assistance Program for free counseling, legal and financial assistance and offers a free membership to the City’s Community Center.
The Ideal Candidate
· While not required, some emergency communications or dispatch experience is desirable.
· Minimum Qualifications include graduation from high school or general equivalency development (G.E.D.) and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
· Possession of, or ability to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch certification.
· Possession of, or ability to obtain, Colorado Crime Information Center Computer Operator certification.
