Starting Pay $18.03 per hour

The Parks Landscaper and Maintenance person performs a variety of semiskilled and manual tasks to include maintenance of park and playground facilities as required. Planting and maintenance of existing and new shrubs, flower beds, and trees.
Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma. Additional training in the fields of horticulture and landscaping is required.
Experience: Three years of related experience which many include the cultivation and/or care of flowers, plants, shrubs, trees, turf, landscaping, building maintenance and/or general labor.
License & Certification: Must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record in accordance with City policy. Valid Class B CDL driver’s license preferred. Must acquire flagging certification within 12 months of hire date.
Essential Functions: Examples of duties may include but are not limited to: Scheduling of and performing proper turf care including aerating, thatching, and seeding of all parks and recreation grounds; Designs and performs a variety of skilled landscaping and horticultural duties at various park locations; Works to improve existing and the addition of new flower beds in our various parks and playgrounds, and with actual planting when necessary; Operates and maintains various light and heavy duty trucks, snow plows, various specialized mowing equipment, stump cutter, roller, chipper, aerator, thatching, loaders, and other grounds equipment; Performs minor building maintenance and repair in areas of painting, carpentry, concrete, masonry, block, startup and winterizing of parks buildings Will perform related duties as assigned.
