This is advanced professional and administrative work in the management of specially assigned programs or projects in the operation and/or planning of the Emergency Management Operations. Work involves coordination of all operational and/or planning for emergency support functions for the City’s Emergency Response Plan. This position is also responsible for working with other City departments to help coordinate citywide training on a variety of topics to include but not limited to Emergency Response Procedures, Incident Command System, Disaster Planning and Preparedness, Safety Training, and other trainings as assigned. Responsibilities include asset management, tool and technology maintenance and utilization, customer service, and programmatic implementation related to emergency management and training programs. Direct emergency preparedness activities, and ensure procedures and policies are current.
This position is responsible for assisting in the development of local government plans for prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation from natural/man-made and planned/unplanned emergencies. This position involves the development and enhancement of emergency operations plans and programs in a manner consistent with current County, State, and Federal Emergency Management regulations and guidelines.

- Bachelor’s degree in emergency or disaster management, and at least three (3) years of full-time experience working for a local or state government, in emergency management, public safety, planning, or contract/project management role, or a combination of education, training and/or experience.
- State of Florida Class ‘E’ driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the City.
- National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS-700, IS-800, and Professional Development Series, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
