What are the responsibilities and job description for the City Clerk Intern position at City of Hamilton, Ohio?

This position involves intern-level city administration work for the City Clerk’s Office and City Council of the City of Hamilton. Number of hours and availability for night meetings is flexible. The intern will work with the City Clerk’s Office to:
Assist with document review and assembly of the City Council Agenda.
Assist with the preparation of documents, presentations, and other needed duties for City Council meetings.
Assist with processing and fulfilling public records requests.
Assist with digitizing City Records
Supporting the needs of the City Clerk’s Office with grant writing and special projects.
Provide support to other City Commissions such as the Charter Review Commission and Ordinance Review Commission.
The specific nature of tasks will vary greatly with the field of study. Examples might include students in programs which include: Public Administration, Clerical Fields, and Computer Science.
Performs tasks designed to provide a hands-on exposure to the work field which has been chosen by the student.
May respond to telephone inquiries and provide information; may handle routine clerical functions for the work unit.
May gather, compile or display information. May be assigned to a research or information-gathering task.
Assists a supervisor on varied tasks of a more advanced nature. In technical fields, may be assigned to a particular project with responsibility for many steps within the project.
May be required to attend City Council and other Board and Commission meetings.
May perform diverse, clerical tasks and/or data entry.
Must be willing to learn, to accept instructions and directions and to follow through by using learned knowledge.
Must be courteous with the public and with other employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be registered in a program of cooperative education or administrative experience working in a government office.
That program or experience must have logical relationship to the particular work tasks of the assignment.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid driver's license
Salary : $14 - $20
