What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children's Librarian position at City of Hampton, VA?
Function
The purpose of the class is to provide programming, reference, research, and circulation assistance to youth and families. The job works under the supervision of the Children’s Division Manager, and participates on system-wide planning teams.
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in Library Science and a Professional Librarian certificate.
- Some library experience preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Works a standard 40-hour workweek to include evenings and weekends.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
