The purpose of the class is to facilitate aspects of Hampton Coliseum and the American Theatre show load in through load out working with show promoters and their production teams. This class works under general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks. This class may be assigned to Hampton Coliseum or the American Theatre.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or successful completion of GED required.
- Requires a minimum of four (4) years of full-time equivalent experience working with venues and show production.
- A current State of Virginia Journeyman Electrician License is preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Requires thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety and fire code precautions applicable to event production in an arena and / or performing arts theatre.
- Must successfully pass a background check and other tests related to the class.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.

This position requires work that is physically demanding on occasions, and as such requires good physical condition. I understand that this position can be physically demanding.
I understand that on occasion I will be required to work hours beyond a standard forty hour work week in order to meet the demands of the event schedule at the Hampton Coliseum and / or American Theatre.
I have the ability to perform the essential functions of this position working in an environment with 'low light' and 'high noise' during events.
Any person offered employment in this position must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing. I understand that this is required.
