What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works/Wastewater - Team Leader position at City of Hampton, VA?
Function
The purpose of the class is to serve as a working team leader in the operation of the City of Hampton’s wastewater collection system. The class works under general supervision independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) years full-time equivalent experience in operating heavy equipment such as wash trucks, bulldozers, cranes, crane trucks, excavators, and other earth-moving equipment or closely related experience.
- One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in a supervisory or working leader capacity in a wastewater operations environment utilizing specialized and/or heavy equipment operations.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Must possess a Class A CDL with a tanker endorsement within 180 days of employment.
- This is a safety sensitive position that requires successful completion of testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City of Hampton’s substance abuse policy.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
