What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Arts Education Manager position at City of Hampton?
The purpose of the class is to assist the Hampton Arts Education Manager in managing the development and implementation of the arts education programming as part of the overall mission and vision of the Hampton Coliseum and Arts to include The American Theatre and The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center department.
Minimum Requirements- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Arts Education, Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Recreation or a related field with professional experience in one or more of the primary cultural areas to include adult and youth arts services, performing art, theatre, music, visual arts, arts education. Experience in several functional areas is preferred.
- Any acceptable combination of experience and education which qualifies the applicant for this particular position may be considered for the more specific requirements outlined above.
- Knowledge of emergency first aid and CPR preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Thorough knowledge of cultural programming and promotion; ability to plan, implement and lead a variety of performing and visual arts activities; good interpersonal and facilitation skills; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Requires flexibility and willingness to learn a broad range of performing and visual arts skills and to function effectively in a variety of assignments as required. Willingness to participate as a team member in a multi-disciplinary department. Performs duties under the general supervision of the Hampton Arts Education Manager.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
