Come join our dynamic Hampton Beach Patrol Team and help us protect our community as they enjoy our beaches this summer! This position plans, coordinates, and supervises the activities of the beach lifeguards and performs beach lifeguard duties to ensure public safety at City beaches. May supervise others.Please note: There are multiple vacancies for this seasonal position. This job posting will remain open until filled.
The purpose of the class is to plan, coordinate, and supervise the activities of the beach lifeguards and perform beach lifeguard duties to ensure public safety at City beaches. The class works according to set procedures. May supervise others.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires high school graduation or GED.
- Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a lifeguard at a public beach or in a public pool facility to include some experience supervising the work of others.
- Must possess a Current Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized organization, i.e. American Red Cross, Ellis & Associates, YMCA of USA, or equivalent.
- Must successfully complete Preventing Disease Transmission and Oxygen Administration training within 30 days of employment.
- Must successfully pass testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
- Must successfully complete physical testing to include a demonstration of skills and abilities.
- Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification is preferred.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion (18 and older).
Additional Requirements
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Must possess good eyesight and hearing.
- Requires shift work to include weekends and holidays.
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
