The purpose of the class is to provide project oversight and leadership and manage the implementation of vendor provided solutions. The class works independently reporting major activities through periodic meetings. This position will evaluate new technology for applicability and suitability for the City and confer with the Project Manager, department heads, users, vendors, and Information Technology (IT) managers to develop requirements for new solutions and revisions to existing solutions. The position will also manage vendor solution implementations and support and provide business process and technical guidance for City departments.

Minimum Requirements
- Associate's degree or two years of post-secondary education in Business, Information Technology Management, Project Management, Public Administration or other related areas of study.
- Requires a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in project coordination or management, working on IT or other major projects requiring automation, citizen services, or coordination with senior level managers, preferably in a municipal environment, or a closely related experience.
- Must possess demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum or Kanban; requires experience using project management tools such as SharePoint, MS Teams, MS Project or other other related tools.
- A combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Preferred Certifications: Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), CompTIA Project , Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and PRINCE2.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules
Salary : $62,646 - $68,911
