Come join our team, as we are looking for a Marketing & Outreach Coordinator. We are seeking a passionate individual with exceptional skills to develop and implement innovative marketing strategies, engage with the community, and promote our diverse range of recreational programs & events.
The purpose of the class is to provide an overall marketing strategy to promote and advertise activities for the Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services (PRLS) department. This position supports the coordination and direction of the daily operations of the Marketing & Outreach unit to include researching marketing trends, preparing surveys, studies and reports, coordinating the design and production of flyers, posters, newsletters, program guides and brochures, social media marketing, and performing special project assignments.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience in Marketing, Public Relations, or Media Relations.
- Requires knowledge and experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress, InDesign & Flash, HTML, print and web design, typography, video storyboarding, shooting and editing.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
- Requires effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers and the ability to write and edit content for a variety of marketing mediums, following AP style. Must have an aptitude for details.
- Requires attendance at some evening and weekend meetings and events.
- Requires some local travel.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
