What You'll Be Doing:

The class works under general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Minimum Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Science, Liberal Arts, Public Administration or related field and a minimum of two years of full-time equivalent experience in research methods and statistical analysis and gathering, computing, analyzing, and maintaining statistics. A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully complete a Police Division background investigation to include a polygraph examination and pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Analyzes, tracks, compares, and maintains reported crime information to identify crime patterns, trends, and series occurring within the City.
- Researches, analyzes, and disseminates updated crime information to police personnel and communicates pertinent case information to surrounding law enforcement agencies to facilitate connections between regional series events and suspects.
- Reviews, enters, and maintains intelligence information in the intelligence database per Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) standards; maintains and updates the Law Enforcement Information on the Division Intranet.
- Examines and analyzes crime reports, addendums, field interviews, and arrest data to ensure an up-to-date record of burglaries, larcenies, and crimes against persons including domestic juvenile incidents.
- Demonstrates punctuality and regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
