Description
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The Seasonal Pool Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of a city swimming pool, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons. This role involves supervising staff, managing finances, maintaining records and upholding safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise pool operations and staff providing guidance and support as needed.
- Manage fee collection, maintain accurate records of receipts and deposit funds following agency policies.
- Keep detailed records of patron admissions, water quality, accidents and first aid incidents.
- Assists and participates in training for lifeguards to ensure readiness and professionalism.
- Oversee aquatic programs catering to various age groups and community needs.
- Direct instructional swimming programs, competitive events and special activities with support from staff and volunteers.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and safety of pool facilities, including equipment and sanitation procedures.
- Continuously improve operations, streamline processes and provide quality customer service.
Additional Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Some positions will require the flexibility to perform additional tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED & EXERCISED
- Reports to the Aquatic Supervisor.
- Provides supervision to seasonal lifeguards.
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Knowledge of:
- Swimming pool operations, including sanitation, maintenance, safety and public relations.
- Cash management operations and record-keeping.
- Lifesaving and first aid techniques, emergency services and pool rules and regulations.
Ability to:
- Effectively supervise staff and manage operations.
- Work independently within departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Maintain accurate financial records and reports.
- Collaborate with staff enforcing pool rules and regulations.
- Remain calm and act quickly in emergencies.
- Produce written documents with proper grammar and punctuation.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; and six (6) months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses, Certificates & Registrations:
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly required to lift arms above shoulder level and coordinate movements of more than one limb simultaneously. The employee must occasionally lift and/or up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision with or without the use of corrective lenses.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The employee is exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
