The Tourism Department's Travel Specialist position is a part-time position (no benefits) and has a preferred hiring rate of $15.96 per hour. The position requires availability to work Sundays from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Additional shifts throughout other days of the week may be available, depending upon the applicant's availability and business needs.

As a Travel Specialist, you'll:
- Provide information about the area and area attractions, including using a map to give directions, through various methods, such as via telephone, written correspondence, or in-person;
- Ensure all visitors are acknowledged and greeted appropriately;
- Act as a public relations person promoting facility services and events;
- Ensure the Hardesty-Higgins House Visitor Center operates in a clean and orderly fashion, including keeping the work area and storage areas neat and orderly;
- Operate office equipment, including cash registers, computer software, and computer systems, and perform routine computer data entry;
- Collect money for transactions, issue receipt of payment, and maintain daily records;
- Reconcile cash on hand with daily receipts and may prepare end-of-day receipt record and deposit;
- Write information on area events and attractions;
- Review brochures, publications, and promotional displays to enhance the patrons' knowledge of tourism industry and attractions;
- Assist with ordering, stocking, and retail merchandise displays;
- Actively participates in meetings and trainings;
- Perform related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age.
- Completion of the tenth grade. High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Availability to work Sundays from 9:00am - 5:00pm is required. Additional shifts may be available throughout the week depending upon business need and applicant availability.
- Experience as a cashier or with a point-of-sale system and some experience providing customer service is preferred.
