Under supervision of the Department of Families, Children, & Youth (DFCY), the Nutrition Aide will provide guidance and support to Family Home Daycare Providers in applying, training, managing, and retaining the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) funding. This individual will help support Family Home Daycare Providers through education and development of guidelines to follow for CACFP, along with processing applications, documentation of activities, trainings, development of program materials and reports. This position will also support developing a plan to implement and expand the Go NAPSACC Program and the Farm to ECE (Early Childhood Education) initiatives for Family Daycare Providers. Performs related work as required. This is a 1716 union position. The hours of work are 40 per week.This is a grant-funded position renewable on an annual basis. The City of Hartford is not obligated to fund this position upon termination of funding.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The examination will consist of rating your training and experience as contained on your application and may include a written test, an oral test, a performance test, or a combination thereof. All parts of the examination, including tests and ratings, will be related to the requirements of the position. The examination is designed to measure: Knowledge of: Basic nutrition principles; Techniques of interviewing and methods of establishing clients' financial status and eligibility for the program;Social and welfare agencies, institutions, clinics, and allied cooperating agencies in the community. Ability to: Maintain simple records and perform a variety of routine functions;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, representatives of other agencies, other employees and the general public;Express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

If appointed, you will serve 3-12 months of probation.
