SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Natural Gas Technical Coordinator, performs a variety of routine and complex duties servicing and repairing the natural gas distribution system, investigates customer inquiries and complaints and is responsible for the gas service truck in absence of Gas Serviceman II. Checks and maintains various valves, etc. in the natural gas distribution system.
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school plus three years’ experience with natural gas service work or related field preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a Journeyman Gas Fitters License within 6 months of eligibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Builds meter sets and replaces or adjusts gas meters and regulators at residential and commercial locations.
- Investigates customer service inquiries and difficulties and lights, adjusts, and performs minor work on customer appliances.
- Conducts leak and carbon monoxide tests in customer premises and keeps necessary records.
- Performs distribution pipeline odorant testing and keeps necessary records.
- Conducts leak surveys at various sites and keeps necessary records required by DOT regulations.
- Checks, maintains, and adjusts mainline valves in natural gas distribution system as required by DOT regulations.
- Installs, operates, and maintains pressure recording equipment.
- Reads and interprets GIS maps, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Ability to recognize, react and report any abnormal operating conditions.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
30 minutes from duty station per, Google maps within 6 months of hire.
HOURS
40 hour per week
Normal hours are Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm. However, the position is subject to be called in at any time for emergencies and maintenance operations.
