Job Description
Incumbent functions as a City Ambassador and electric trolley driver (Ambassador) and as such welcomes and safely transports citizens and visitors to various locations throughout the City’s downtown area. In the performance of the job functions, the Ambassador serves as a key representative of the Mayor of the City of Havre de Grace providing exceptional customer service and educating passengers about the City and various points of interest passed on route. The position reports to the Deputy Director of Administration with a coordination relationship to the Tourism Manager.

- Consistently demonstrates a professional attitude and appearance that make a positive impression on all trolley riders and those who may observe the trolley operation.
- Consistently demonstrates the initiative to learn about the City and anticipate questions from trolley riders.
- Consistently demonstrates the teamwork, integrity and character required to support and work with all Ambassadors to continuously improve the trolley rider experience and reputation of the City.
- Safely and efficiently operates a City electric trolley and proactively prevents accident or harm related to the City electric trolley.
- Obeys all posted speed limits, street signs and traffic laws.
- Assists customers entering and exiting the trolley.
- Verbally informs riders about various points of interest.
- Provides exceptional customer service in all circumstances.
- Completes vehicle inspection sheet at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Reports any trolley damage to supervisor.
- Washes and cleans trolley as needed.
- Ensures trolley is correctly plugged into an appropriate electrical charging station at end of shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER RELATED FACTORS:
- Work is performed primarily outside and, as a result, employee works in all kinds of climatic conditions.
- Must have availability to work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Must have day and evening availability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must frequently sit and occasionally stand, walk and bend.
- Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Must work independently with minimal supervision and self-synchronize with other teammates.
- Must have the ability to be self-taught and learn and commit to memory various points of interest throughout the City.
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or a GED equivalent.
- Customer service experience.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with no points.
