Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Utility Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in the Department of Utility Services. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under general supervision, plans, schedules, and coordinates a broad spectrum of preventive and routine repair and emergency maintenance activities across all water and wastewater facilities and systems, using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) as a primary tool; and performs related duties as assigned.
** NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
- Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
- Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school, or the equivalent.
- Five (5) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of water and/or wastewater facilities and appurtenances, which includes two (2) years of experience directly related to planning and scheduling maintenance using CMMS software.
- Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483.
- Must obtain and maintain a Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) Plant Maintenance Technologist Grade II certification within eighteen months (18) months from the date of appointment as a condition of continued employment.*

Must possess one of the following certifications at the time of application and must maintain the certification as a condition of continued employment:
- State of Nevada Water Distribution Operator Grade 2 or higher*
- State of Nevada Water Treatment Operator Grade 2 or higher*
- NWEA Wastewater Treatment Operator Grade 2 or higher*
- NWEA Collection Systems Operator Grade 2 or higher*
- Desirable: American Water Works Association (AWWA) or American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA) Cross-Connection Control Specialist Certification; OR AWWA Cross-Connection Control General Tester Certification.
