Special Duty Assignment - Paramedic Preceptor

The Paramedic Preceptor performs dual roles. Preceptors serve as Fire Fighter/Paramedics, or Paramedic Ambulance Operators, assuming normal responsibilities and serve in the additional capacity of a trainer. In their role as a trainer, the Paramedic Preceptor provides ongoing instruction utilizing various techniques.
- Specialized assignments will post on January 1st and close on December 31st of each year; employees who are interested in the assignment can apply throughout the year.
- Interviews will be held only if a vacancy for the specialized assignment occurs.
- When a vacancy for a specialized assignment occurs, an email will be sent at least one (1) week prior to the interview date(s). This email will announce the vacancy, include an application deadline, remind employees to apply if they are interested, and announce the date(s) of the interview date.
- Eligible applicants will be invited to the interview.
- Selection(s) will be made from the pool of candidates who interviewed for the current vacancy/vacancies.
- If another vacancy occurs prior to December 31st an email will be sent out as listed above, new selection interviews will take place for that vacancy.
- Must meet the following requirements to apply:
- Possess an SNHD EMS Instructor I Certification OR Nevada State Fire Marshall Instructor Certification I or II*
- Henderson Fire Department Paramedic for a minimum of one year from the date of hire**.
- *NOTE: Due to the timing of the SNHD certification process, candidates must have a valid EMS Instructor certificate issued to them by the SNHD prior to their assignment, but they do not need the certificate to participate in this current assessment process.**NOTE: All candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as a Henderson Fire Department Paramedic at the time of the first assessment.Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certificates
- Completion of Paramedic Preceptor Certification Course within 6 months of assignment as a Paramedic Preceptor.
- Specialty Instructor certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS) will be made available to Preceptors. Members who receive this benefit will be expected to provide instruction to the floor.
