What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Code Compliance Officer position at City of Henderson?

WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule will be Wednesday through Saturday. The dates and hours are subject to change at the department's discretion.
** NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
- Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
- Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.
Incumbent may expect to primarily work independently in-field at varying City of Henderson parks, trails, recreation centers, plazas, etc. Incumbent will be exposed to varying weather conditions and outdoor environments including excessive heat and cold. Travel between worksites and locations will be necessary via City motor vehicle, bicycle, and/or cart. Air conditioning and heat may not be available via all methods of travel. Incumbent may also expect to encounter and interact with persons who are uncooperative, experiencing crisis, or experiencing homelessness.

External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range, if selected.
- Graduation from high school or the equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in parks or recreation operations and/or code or law enforcement, experience must include issuing citations, writing reports, and documenting incidents
- Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
- Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
- May be required to complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- Must possess or obtain and maintain, the following certifications, as indicated below and as a condition of continued employment:
- Criminal Justice Information Systems Certification within seven (7) days of appointment
- CPR Certification within six (6) months of appointment
- Desirable: Certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector with the International Code Council and/or American Association of Code Enforcement

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. Appointment may be subject to the successful and timely completion of a post offer pre-employment background investigation and medical/physical examination, including a drug/alcohol test.
