The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list for the part-time classification of Police Administrative Specialist I. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification within any assignment area in the Police department for up to one (1) year.

  

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of office and support functions for a department, division, unit, or a senior staff member; and performs related duties as assigned.


POSITION INFORMATION:
  • The Consideration for Hire List established by this recruitment may be utilized to fill vacancies for both PERS-eligible and Non-PERS-eligible positions. Information pertaining to the PERS eligibility status will be shared with candidates during the interview process.
  • This position may work between 19 - 29 hours per week.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation
  • Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need 
  • May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours
  • Physical work locations will vary based on assignment area
  • External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range.

Current Vacancy Area:
  • (1) Special Programs and Services - Office area in Downstairs Henderson Municipal Court
    • This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.
    • This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)
    • Work schedule includes a maximum of 19 hours per week (between Monday and Thursday) as agreed upon by the employee and supervisor. The position supports the Special Programs and Services section of the Henderson Police Department and includes working a front-facing, high-volume customer window to take payments, answer questions, and perform other general clerical duties as assigned. Special Programs and Services customers are individuals who have been sentenced to probation by the Henderson Municipal Court. 

PERSONAL HISTORY QUESTIONNAIRE (PHQ):
The final step in the selection process is the police background investigation. If you are among the group of candidates moving forward to the final steps, you will be required to go through a thorough police background process and complete and submit a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).   • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • One (1) year of general full-time clerical experience
  • Sufficient keyboarding skills of 30 net words per minute
  • Must obtain certification in JLink, National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Shared Computer Operations for Protection and Enforcement (SCOPE) and Law Enforcement Records Management System (RMS) and maintain annual re-training and certification
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
  • Some positions will require the performance of other essential and marginal functions depending upon work location, assignment, or shift

ASSESSMENT DATES:

Skill-Based Keyboarding Examination* | Remote/Online (Pass/Fail): Test invitations and instructions will be sent on Monday, May 12, 2025. Candidates will be allotted 48 hours to complete the assessment.

*Candidates will be required to pass the keyboarding portion of the assessment process based on the number of net words per minute (WPM) listed in the minimum qualifications. Please click here for more information on our keyboarding examination and to access the practice test.  

Written Examination | Remote/Online (Weighted 100%): Test invitations and instructions will be sent on Monday, May 19, 2025. Candidates will be allotted 48 hours to complete the assessment.

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above.
The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best-qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. NOTE:  The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards.  The selection process should be completed within four (4) months of the closing date.  Candidates may reapply when there is a vacancy and a posting to establish an eligibility list.   Some candidates may be disqualified indefinitely due to the results of their background investigation.
