The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Safety Officer in the Department of Emergency Management. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.
Under general supervision, performs professional level work assisting with the coordination of the City's Safety and Health Programs, and performs related duties as assigned.

- The salary range for this position is $75,985.29 - $113,977.94 annually.

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in industrial safety, occupational health, public administration or closely related field
- Five (5) years of experience in occupational safety and health administration developing and implementing safety programs, Public Sector experience is preferred.
- Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
- Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
- Certification as a Safety Professional or Industrial Hygienist is desirable at time of application and must be obtained within two (2) years of date of hire as condition of continued employment.
- Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.
- Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
- Desirable: OSHA 500 certificate.
- Desirable: Certification from an organization equivalent to ISHM, ASSE, or the BCSP.
