The Airport Maintenance Technician performs all aspects of maintenance operations of the airfield, buildings, and grounds to ensure Hickory Regional Airport is maintained and operates in a safe, efficient, and professional manner, and in compliance with City, Airport, FAA, OSHA, and all other appropriate regulatory agencies.
Major Duties
- Performs runway inspections and ensures lights, signs, and markers are visible and functioning correctly; makes repairs as needed.
- Removes debris from the runway and all taxiways.
- Mows and properly maintains airport grounds inside and outside of the fence.
- Operates and maintains snow removal and de-icing equipment.
- Cleans and maintains airport buildings including but not limited to floors, restrooms, windows, and trash removal.
- Performs maintenance repairs to airport buildings and grounds ensuring that buildings and grounds are a safe environment and kept in compliance with City, Airport, and appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Reports any incident involving accidents, aircraft damage, or security breaches and FAA incursions immediately to airport management and helps with an investigation as needed.
- Trains for Line Technician duties to fill in as backup support.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
