Job Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for building partnerships with community agencies to provide, coordinate, and increase awareness of library services.
- Provides customer assistance to internal and external patrons.
- Promotes library services through outreach activities such as school and community visits.
- Promotes library collections, technology, and services through presentations, programs, and displays.
- Instruct patrons in the use of library and information resources.
- Plans and implements programs for adults and teens.
- Conducts tours for groups and organizations.
- Assists patrons in selecting, locating, and using library resources.
- Provides readers’ advisory assistance to patrons.
- Attends meetings, workshops, and conferences as necessary.
- Reads professional development books and articles.
- Participates on various committees as requested.
- Assists in the generation of research aids and in the creation of research lists.
- Performs collection development duties; selects books and other resources; evaluates collection for outdated materials.
- Files and shelves materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited university. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship / internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Supervisory Controls
The Head of Reference and Technical Services assigns work in terms of general instructions. Work is spot-checked upon completion for compliance with procedures and the nature and propriety of results.
