This position will assist with a variety of duties to include working with patrons of all ages, creating library accounts, helping customers find materials, shelving materials, using library resources including computers and copiers, answering reference questions, putting materials in order and presenting classes and programs.

Saturdays 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sundays 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

- Provides service to both internal and external patrons.
- Creates and manages library patron accounts.
- Inspects materials for damage.
- Sorts and shelves materials.
- Assists patrons with the location of library materials.
- Assists patrons in the use of computer catalog system.
- Assists patrons using public computer workstations, copiers and other library technology.
- Plans and presents library programs and events for all ages.
- Creates and maintains displays of library materials
- Collects and records statistics.
- Enforces library policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Must have experience working with the public.
- Ability to relate well to the public.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- The preferred applicant will have a Bachelor's degree and have previous library experience.
- Public library experience desirable.
- Knowledge of library cataloging systems.
- Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing a variety of software.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
- The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping in a library setting.
- The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds, bend to the floor, and tolerate standing up for long periods of time.
- Must be available to work a varied schedule between the duty hours of Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM; Friday and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM; Sunday, 1:00 PM to 5 PM.
