Work is performed under the general supervision of the Purchasing Manager.
- Purchase goods and services needed by the City of High Point;
- Utilizes current policies and procedures and general statutes to develop and organize all phases to procure goods and services;
- Assist with Purchasing Card Program as an Administrator;
- Create and distribute purchase orders to vendors and departments;
- Process changes, corrections, cancellations and provide technical assistance with purchase orders for departments;
- Assist vendors and the public regarding information on how to do business with the City of High Point;
- Maintain vendor database including approval of all new vendor set up, modify vendor database;
- Assist as needed with processing bid proposals, reviewing bid documents, and publishing bids;
- Greet sales representative and city employees and assist as necessary;
- Assist as needed with processing, reviewing and routing contracts;
- Assist as needed with all training including purchasing training, p-card training, andERP training;
- Answer multiple phone lines;
- Facilitate Purchasing Inbox Requests;
- Order Departmental Supplies;
- Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Standards and Policies.
- Formal Education
- Associate Degree in Business Management, Accounting, or closely related field with at least two (2) years of progressive purchasing experience; OR
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with five (5) years of progressive purchasing experience.
- Proven record of setting and meeting internal purchasing requirements.
- Some understanding of local, state and federal purchasing laws/policies.
- Must be able to work with all types of people as the employee will be dealing with employees from user departments, vendors and the general public.
- Must have good communication, typing and filing skills.
- Must have good telephone communication skills.
- Must have knowledge of basic office practices and procedures and the skill and ability to operate the required office equipment.
- Certifications
- CLGPO certification or ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment;
- Other Professional purchasing certification or ability to obtain within three (3) years of employment.
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- English and Spanish Language skills

Salary : $45,631 - $58,469
