Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation Coordinator of Aquatics, a Pool Manager is responsible for assisting in the operations of the Hilliard Municipal Pools, including chemical recording, facility maintenance, and overseeing Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Guest Services.

- Responsible for the daily operation of aquatic facilities.
- Uphold and enforces policies, procedures, rules and regulations, in connection with the operation and safety of aquatics facilities and staff.
- Possess thorough knowledge of and executes emergency action plans and emergency response plans.
- Participate in and/or leads in-service education programs and assists with staff training.
- Adhere to applicable health and safety standards set forth by the City, State, Local Health Department, and other applicable organizations.
- Safeguard and regulate the conduct of pool patrons.
- Help create an outstanding work environment, as well as setting the bar for providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Maintain cleanliness of their assigned facility, including grass areas, walkways, concession area, guard lounge, offices, filter rooms and bathrooms.
- Observe and maintain safe swimming conditions and ensure safety and health of all pool patrons and staff.
- Provide professional and courteous service to all patrons. Interact with the public and respond to customer inquiries, researching and resolving issues as necessary.
- Check, record, interpret, and make necessary adjustments to water chemistry, including but not limited to: chlorine residual, pH, and alkalinity.
- Maintain pool filtration systems as needed for daily operation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, Recreation Program Managers, Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks, or the Director of Recreation and Parks or their designee.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of Hilliard Municipal Pools rules, policies, procedures and expectations.
- Notable amount of experience at the Hilliard Municipal Pools or other Aquatic facilities.
- Considerable knowledge of principles and techniques of planning, organizing, and conducting recreational activities.
- Considerable knowledge of various recreational programs and current trends in the industry.
- Ability to handle money with honesty and integrity.
- Ability to effectively use a computer and utilize word processing, spreadsheet, email and Rec Trac software.
- Ability to exhibit professional behavior and to be a positive role model to other staff.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to supervise, direct, instruct, and solicit cooperation from others in the performance of their daily work assignments and duties.
- Ability to compile and prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement, discretion, and provide effective leadership.
- Ability to answer inquiries, resolve complaints, and communicate with the public in an effective, tactful courteous, and professional manner.
- Ability to implement Emergency Action Plans and emergency response plans.
- Compliance with training directives established by supervisory personnel.
- Adherence to all applicable federal, state and local safety laws, rules and regulations and City policies/procedures.
- Any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required advanced knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Typical Qualifications:
- 18 Years of Age or Older.
- High School Diploma.
- One year of college preferred.
- Possession of a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Possession of American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- Possession of American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification, or ability to become certified upon hire.
- A background free of prior felony convictions.
- Regular and punctual attendance is regarded as an essential requirement of this position.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Full-Time availability preferred.
