Position Overview:
The Public Works Department is seeking a skilled and dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. This full-time role is critical in ensuring city facilities are maintained to the highest standards. We are looking for someone who excels in hands-on maintenance work, communicates effectively, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Performing general maintenance, including carpentry, cabinetry, sheetrock, and flooring.
- Conducting painting, signage installation, concrete repairs, and more.
- Supporting specialized contractors for systems like elevators, fire systems, and pool maintenance.
- Using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for record-keeping and reporting.
- Providing excellent customer service to building occupants, team members, and vendors.
- Operating tools and equipment safely and effectively.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in general maintenance tasks, such as flooring, painting, and concrete work.
- Customer Service Focus: Strong communication skills and a commitment to meeting customer needs.

Acceptable Experience and Training
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1 year of commercial maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
- Must be able to pass an extensive criminal background investigation
- Ability to obtain certifications (e.g., Max Track Access, Bloodborne Pathogen, forklift certification) within six months of hire.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with carpentry, flooring, door hardware, concrete, sheetrock, and ceramic tile installation and maintenance.
- Experience operating a trailer is a plus.

Work Schedule & On-Call Requirements:
- Choose between a 5-day workweek (8-hour shifts), 4-day workweek (10-hour shifts, Tuesday–Friday) or a 9/80 schedule with every other Monday off.
